Kesidang CNC 3D Router

A computer numerical control (CNC) router is a computer-controlled cutting device used to cut a variety of materials, including wood, composites, metals, plastics, glass, and foams. Typically mounted on the spindle of a CNC router is a hand-held router. Many tools used in carpentry shops, such the panel saw, the spindle moulder, and the boring machine, can be replaced by CNC routers. They are also capable of cutting joinery like mortises and tenons. The idea behind a CNC router and a CNC milling machine is fairly similar. Tool routes are managed by computer numerical control rather than manual routing. One of the various types that have CNC variations is the router.

HISTORY OF KESIDANG

In December 2021, a programme called Talent Development Programme: Developing Tomorrow’s Expertise was held for Product Design Student of Faculty of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Technology. As organizer of this programme, Dr. Hambali bin Boejang has proposed product development project which was to develop a CNC 3D Router Machine in order to share and implement the knowledge that he experienced during his time in automotive industry. Therefore, six students have volunteered themselves to participate in the project under his supervision. As a result, a CNC 3D Router codenamed V2 has been produced by the team. Later in October 2022, a V2 CNC 3D Router Naming Competition has been held by Teaching Factory UTeM, and one participant with a proposed name of Kesidang that have been chosen as winner hence v2 is renamed as Kesidang.
